Rise Of The Digital Building

At the inaugural Building Technology Forum hosted by Commercial Observer in October 2019, Prescriptive Data’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman John Gilbert spoke in his keynote on “The Digital Building.”

Through quotes and anecdotes from the likes of Pablo Picasso to the chemistry of memory, John spoke about Rudin’s place in smart building history — 55 Broad Street is considered the “grandfather of all smart buildings.” He went on to introduce Prescriptive Data’s Nantum OS — “A Brain for Buildings” — and the needs of modern buildings today.

John demonstrated Nantum’s ability to measure real-time data on Rudin’s properties, and in turn how Nantum makes the data actionable through its various applications.

Other talk highlights:

  • Introduction of how Prescriptive Data uses virtual reality in Digital Twins

  • Three distinct digital conversations that need to happen in a smart building today:

    • The operating system throughout a building

    • From the building directly to all C-suite level customers

    • With everyone who walks into the building.

  • Dock 72 case study
