Prescriptive Data Launches AI-Powered Carbon Emission Fine Predictor For Commercial Buildings
Nantum OS Uses Machine Learning to Automatically Calculate and Predict Building Carbon Emissions & Fines In Real-Time Ahead Of Rapidly Approaching Emissions Limit Deadlines
Owners and sustainability managers need tools to understand emissions-related risks from local regulations targeting the carbon cost of building occupancy.
Nantum OS’ updated Greenhouse Gas (GHG) application enables building owners and operators to better track and manage emissions, reducing exposure to costly fines.
Calculating estimated fines and forecasting future emissions helps owners take course-corrective measures before non-compliance impacts NOI or asset valuation.
NEW YORK — March 23, 2023 — Prescriptive Data, a New York-based smart energy and building technology company, announced today that its flagship product, Nantum OS, has launched an update to its greenhouse gas (GHG) application designed to help building owners comply with new emissions limits. These limits include laws like New York City’s Climate Mobilization Act (Local Law 97), Washington D.C.’s Building Energy Performance Standard (BEPS), and Boston’s Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO). The update also advances customization enabling owners to set bespoke limits based on other laws or corporate ESG goals. Nantum OS can estimate future fines owners will receive if they’re found to be out of compliance with regulations.
Improving NOI For Building Owners
The goal of the latest update to Nantum’s GHG App is to help building owners understand their financial exposure to local legislative limits. Nantum OS now helps owners and managers track their limits, estimate fines and prescribe operational parameters to stay in compliance. Nantum OS can generate a downloadable report to share with team members and benchmarking officials such as Energy Star and local governments. The new features help Building Operators and Sustainability Managers better manage GHG emissions overall and reduce or avoid costly fines.
"Fines from Local Law 97 and others will be significant enough to impact NOI and underlying asset value in 2024 and following years," said Sonu Panda, CEO of Prescriptive Data. "Nantum OS gives owners a daily view of their energy usage, emissions, and the predicted financial impact of future fines so they can take preventative measures, course-correct and prioritize as needed."
New Features
Existing Site Models: Nantum’s GHG Emissions App has Local Law 97 2024 and updated 2030 site model details pre-loaded for NYC owners.
Customizable Site Models: Within the App Settings, navigate to Create A GHG Model to create custom limits matching your asset's local regulations or corporate limits.
Nantum Library: Access Nantum’s ever-growing repository of local law limit definitions, answering frequently asked questions about Local Law 97, Boston’s BERDO, and other local legislation.
Site Model View: The app enables users to be able to filter views via different GHG Emission models which could include different limits, emission factors, or fines for estimating or forecasting purposes.
Highlights: This widget displays top-level metrics to understand emissions at a glance.
Emissions Tracking: View charts and emissions trends for any timeframe in metric tons, metric tons/hour, kilograms, or kilograms/hour.
Emissions by Commodity: Understand emissions levels attributable to electric, steam, or gas.
Fine Estimation: Calculate forecasted fines based on the site models' adherence to local law.
These capabilities are immediately available in Nantum OS under the same app as the existing GHG App. The GHG App needs meter data for each commodity within a site to estimate energy use and related GHG emissions. Within Nantum, select a local law limit or set a custom limit to get started tracking emissions.

About Prescriptive Data’s Nantum OS
Nantum OS is an artificial intelligence and machine learning climate technology designed for commercial real estate operators and sustainability managers. Nantum OS allows real estate managers to visualize building HVAC systems, metering systems, people counting systems, IoT devices (air quality, lighting, shade, smart glass), distributed energy systems (battery storage, fuel cells, on-site generation equipment, solar), and third-party datasets in real time. Nantum OS uses real-time AI/ML algorithms to reduce building energy demand, suppress carbon emissions, and shrink utility costs. Each building on Nantum OS uses the least amount of energy and carbon emissions while delivering the maximum amount of health and comfort to occupied spaces. Learn more at www.prescriptivedata.io.
